Safer Workplaces
It is important that the course content is specific to the needs of the people who will use it. At FACT we advocate that one course does not fit all. Unit Standard based courses attempt to cater for everyone, our aim is to provide specific, timely courses that are cost effective.Â
These courses would cover, safe management of sites, extrication techniques for safe removal of casualties. Use of important life saving equipment including tourniquets. As well as basic life saving techniques and  first aid.

CORE Training
For Healthcare Professionals
The New Zealand Resuscitation Council Certificate of Resuscitation and Emergency Care (CORE) is a standardized resuscitation curriculum for New Zealand health professionals. CORE certification provides the basic skills and knowledge for the management of life-threatening illness and injury both within and outside of a rescuer’s immediate working environment.
CORE is available as different courses:

CORE Immediate. This course is for rescuers who might be expected to manage the early stages of cardiac arrest.

CORE Immediate – Adult includes adult collapse management.

CORE Immediate – Adult and Child includes adult and child collapse management.
-
CORE Advanced. This course is for the advanced rescuer who is expected to manage and supervise resuscitation events.

CPR for Vaccinators - This course is designed for vaccinators and covers the requirement for vaccinators.

Basic Life Support
3-4 hours
If someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, effective CPR can dramatically increase the victim’s chance of survival.
This course will teach you the following;
Scene and hazard management
Patient positioning and assessment
CPR (Adult, Child, Infant)
Defibrillator (AED) use
Choking management (Adult, Child, Infant)
Serious bleeding and shock management

First Aid Certification
Level 1 and 2
Level 1 - 6-8 hours
This fundamental training will ensure that you leave knowing more than just the basics for providing rapid treatment of common conditions in the home and workplace.
You will be able to recognise and provide First Aid for;
Bleeding and shock
Burns
Poisoning
Heart attacks and chest pains
Strokes
Seizures
Fractures and dislocations
Soft tissues injuries
Allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
Asthma
Diabetes
Recognise and provide basic life support for;
Scene and hazard management
Patient positioning and assessment
CPR (Adult, Child, Infant)
Defibrillator (AED) use
Choking (Adult, Child, Infant)
General care

Level 2 - 8 hours
in addition to the above you will also learn
Recognise and manage serious emergencies of:
Head injuries
Suspected spinal injuries
Major wounds
Major burns
Severe allergic reactions
Heat and cold emergencies
Multiple casualty management

Early Childhood Educator First Aid
4 hours
This course is specially designed to suit the Early Childhood Educator. Ideally suited to both centre based and home based educator.
this course will cover the following;
Scene and hazard management
Patient positioning and assessment
CPR (children and infants)
Defibrillator (AED) use
Choking (children and infants)
Burns
Poisoning
Seizures
Fractures and dislocations
Serious bleeding and shock
Allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
Breathing difficulties

Emergency First Responder
up to 2 days
This course is ideally suited to those who may be first on the scene or work in a higher risk work place.
you will gain skills in;
CPR, resuscitation, extrication techniques and immediate, advanced first aid.
familiarity with common emergency care equipment and airway management.
On completion of this course you will recognise and provide pre-hospital care including:

Patient triage/prioritisation
Consciousness surveying
Airway and oxygen device techniques
Patient monitoring
Managing deceased patients and families
communication toon any medical or trauma conditions changes
Recognise when and how to use an AED including:
(Covers NZQA 25411)

CPR
Defibrillator (AED) use
Choking
